Hi,

I've started on a cross-platform audio library, called PSL: Portable Sound
Library. It currently supports OSS and ALSA. You can get it at
www.alphalink.com.au/~clausen/atech/psl.tar.gz

It isn't too impresive, but perhaps worth a look...
It does automatic conversions, and splitting/joining of audio streams (all
customisable).
