If you really mean "shareware" not "freeware", you're likely to have a
very difficult time making any money if you release for Linux. From what
I've seen, Linux users tend to be very reluctant to spend any money on
software, and when they begrudgingly do, it's only for the very best of
breed commercial products.

I don't mean to scare you off; have you considered releasing your
applications for free (or better yet, open source)? There are numerous
advantages, and your work will stand a much better chance of being
embraced by the Linux community.

Now that I've said that, what do the rest of you folks on the list think?
Some of you have released programs as shareware before; do you in
retrospect think it was the right decision?
