what about software raid0 ?
i think i got your point that the problem is seek time, not
max throughput, but i guess seek time would be reduced as
well by striping disks. haven't been there and done that
yet, though.
two (ideally identical) scsi disks is not asking too much
for 24ch hd recording imho. granted, standalone hdr devices
may have lower disk requirements, but then they don't offer
all the flexibility that comes with a full-featured etx2
filesystem, so that would seem ok.

btw, does anybody have filesystem recommendations for audio
? are there sources of information on the net about
filesystems best suited for multimedia or raw partition
approaches ?
(i'm not suggesting this, just curious, since it seems most
standalone hdrs do it this way.)
