It's not a question of "does it work like the ensoniq".

It's a question of, is an onscreen dial supposed to be operated with a
mouse?

The answer is : ABSOLUTELY NOT!

There are many possible bad designs in a GUI, but a dial is the worst
possible control anyone could ever put on an GUI to be controlled by a
mouse.

Sliders are fine. Dials are NOT.
