More realistically the decay envelope should be set by the amount of
pressure on the hihat foot pedal. Even this though is not really going to
sound like a hihat because more than just the amplitude changes as you
press on the foot pedal. The whole sound changes. As for how to implement
this I have no idea. I have very little experience with electronic
drums(or other instruments fo that matter) so I won't be much help there.

As for now I would just concentrate on the standard pitched instruments.
Of course we need a good sample file format first!
