Well, you may think whatever you like about users with limited
technical knowledge, but there are lots of them, and they're
unlikely to lose any of the top 24 bits with 64 bit floats doing
anything like what I described.
OTOH, people who can't use a UN*X-like OS shouldn't use computers at
all, right? ;-)
