Yep, it is gain followed by limiter. It only has to be in the system
in a natural way. Just hooking up two plug-ins to before hardware output
is not an user friendly way to do it.

It is only a tool which can be turned off. It is meant to be used in
context of editing fades and the like. After editing it can be taken
off.

When it is used in normal playing, the compression doesn't happen at all
if you listen to at reasonable volume levels. Its purpose is to be
a replacement system when one wants to hear quiet places more better,
i.e., when engineer turns the volume louder from normal volume levels.

By the way, it doesn't help if a quiet sound is hidden under louder
music.

I agree. In editing context it is slightly better.

We can check how it practically works when somebody implements it --- at
least me after my Waver is ready enough.
