The plugin doesn't use these #define's to query the host; they are
intended for the host to figure out if the plugin has certain kinds of
GUI's. However, I now think that using David's catalog approach is
MUCH better idea.

Thats already clear. The problem that there has to be an association
between the plugin and any GUI's for it. The host needs to know what,
if any, GUI's are provided for the plugin (albeit in separate files).
