I must admit I don't really follow this - what's the point of "extending
LADSPA to do IPC"? LADSPA is intended as a way to abstract out DSP
algorithms - IPC sounds like an odd thing to bring into this. I could be
missing the point however...

The XML categorisation stuff is an interesting idea however.

Yeah :) Thats it. LADSPA is the dictator way, too - so I think
extending LADSPA to do IPC without interfering with its simple
API is more suitable to our user/developer community than doing
the same thing again. Lets have a GLAME/GStreamer like API for
the real men that want to do powerful nodes.
