I think that the term "frame" means here "synchronous samples", i.e. if
the audio stream is stereo, then a frame is 2 samples, if it is 8 channels,
a frame is 8 samples. It is the term that is used in audio files libraries,
in drivers or in digital interchange formats (S/PDIF, AES/EBU, ADAT).
