Yes, I've been folowing the threads and understand that it isn't all
that easy. its just that for my needs, and as I saw it, just monitioring
the audio device shouldnt be all too complex. I imagined that a soultion
to just spool the audio buffers to RAM as well as playing them would be
something that already existed.

It occurs to me, though, that perhaps I missunderstood the problem.
Since each softsynth opens its own alsa device(in my case) perhaps there
isn't a clean way to get to the actual digitaly mixed hardware buffer.

Perhaps there even isnt one on my hardware, perhpas mixing is done in
analog. Very well, then I'll do the mastering on my desktop instead and
record digitally to DAT. But that felt like an unecessary step.
