The es1371 limits recording to -3db, probably to increase shipments of
the higher end cards. Even if the OSS ioctls worked you'd only get 15
bits of dynamic range out of it. Think about buying a SBLive or an
M-Audio card or wait until those become affordable before throwing a
month at the es1371.
