Tena kotau,
I'm getting very close to making a new purchase for a notebook computer.
I have a couple of options which is stay with the one I have or upgrade
to a new one. I am also intending to buy this new fangeled dream machine
from RME which will attach to my box via a pcmcia card.
I have a couple of questions on hardware requirements and what I can get
away with.
The main usage of this machine will be recording. I would also like to
be able to whip it out at the odd party or nightclub and scorch peoples
ears.
So can anyone tell me if 256Mb ram will be enough to record/play say, 32
stereo tracks at 96mhz and 32 bits/sec with a few ladspa plugins running
in real time?
Also as this card does all the dsp on its own will a 5400rpm ide/atapi
HDD be enough?
I also have a pcmcia scsi card to which I could attach a 18GB HDD. If
the ide HDD is not fast do you think this would do the job?
One way or another I have to buy a new notebook. If the above is enough
for the job then I will save money and will be able to buy the RME
sooner;-]
TIA
