i've been sortof following this, and my idea is pretty simple (someone
suggested something similiar, i think, but surrounded by lots of other
info).
in the multitrack program, have an option (either you can click on it or
have it automatic) that will check the change time of a file, and update
it within the multitrack if the file is newer.
that way whenever you save changes in the editor, they can be
automatically updated in the completely separate multitrack.
pretty damn simple, and isn't this what all the fuss is about?
