take the 0.5.x documentation. apart from the opening mantra (you'll
see how to do that from the header file, just use "hw" when asked for
a char *), it has not changed significantly.
for rawmidi personally i prefer using /dev/snd/midiCxDy directly. it's
simpler and as effective.
