yes, i agree that this is odd, and also wrong. however, i would point
out that very, very few people have been involved in the development
of ALSA. every month, a couple of people pop up, promising to "write
some introductory documentation", or "write some good example code to
show the basic use of the API". no such documentation has ever emerged
from their promises. as a result, you have a project that is still
essentially being written by one or two people, with maybe a
half-dozen to a dozen more contributing mostly just card-specific
patches and occasionally a new low-level driver.

there is only so much that jaroslav can do. i wouldn't say that this
was an "odd project" so much - more, its odd that so much the existing
community of linux audio developers has so far failed to join in and
help with ALSA, an API that offers them so much.
