Does the fault really lie with RedHat? Or does it lie with Linux
audio application projects that don't supply RedHat packages? Why don't
programmers at least test their applications on different distros?

Warning, I switched from Debian 2.2 stable to RedHat 7.2 about a
year ago. I got tired of my applications being up to three years out of
date! Compiling Linux audio applications with those aging libraries was
even more of a nightmare than with RedHat. Good luck.
