But sometimes we use audio ports for things that are conceptually
control signals. e.g. the recent discussions about simulated
moog filters. If the filter freq. needs to be updated on a
per-sample basis, we then get no default value for it?
That's no good.

In other words, I've just found another reason why
audio ports used for control signals is less than ideal. :-/
(the other I remember from these discussions is that
hosts won't know how to build a reasonable gui.)
