Subject: [linux-audio-dev] Bad lock ups with Alsa-0.9 and tk-707

Hi
I applied the alsa-0.9 patches to tk-707 and found out that it completely
lock up my machine after playing one measure. I can play the sounds by
clicking on the instrument pads, but as soon as I click start, it plays
one measure and then completely locks up the kernel, no oops no log
entries.
I am using 0.9.0rc2 with an sblive on linux-2.4.19. First I thought it
might be my wavetable stuff, so I removed the mavetable driver and used
TiMidity++ for output. I got same results. I thought it might be my X
because I am using NVdriver. I removed all the tainted modules from the
kernel and ran in console (no X), exported my display to a remote box, but
still locks up at the same place. My regular midi players (pmidi,
timidity) play hours and hours of music without any problems though.
I am using stock 2.4.19 kernel, without any patches. The alsa is stock
too.
I moved down to alsa 0.5.12a and recompiled tk-707 (without patches) and
bingo, no crashes. So it seems like it might be related with the sequencer
part of alsa-0.9. I will try to do some debugging. Does anyone know what
would be the best way to go about it. I will probably compile it with
debug enabled, but since it is a cold lockup, it might not be easy.
I wanna do some homework before knocking alsa's door.
Any ideas.
