no, that just sorts them alphabetically, but it puts enough letters in
each menu title to make them useful. (By coincidence the Echoes are near
the Feedbacks and all the Simple stuff is near the Sine stuff, so some
things lump together by chance).

however, you still need to know what you're looking for.

if we had a set of standard generic categories (echos, distorts, EQs, satan
maximisers etc) then, in all apps, the plugins would be easier to find
and experiment with for non-expert users ;-)
