It appears to be an x86 processor (or some...), that you squirt PC VST
plugins to.

A cost effective way of running host plugins would be using multiple,
cheap CPUs (durons say), and spreading the plugins amongst them. You can't
do it in a PC cos of the OS etc. but it could be possible in some bespoke
hardware. Cooling would be hard though. More practical might be a couple
of mini-ITX boards, easy to cool, cheap ($250 each) and very small.

Cool hardware. Quiet though, implies not silent.
