maybe the thought of amplitude-dependent harmonic relations
didn't occur to them, i don't know.
there should be a link to the pdf at the top of the page on
citeseer, it's a short but interesting read.
there's another interesting paper from DAFx '99: "discrete-time
models for nonlinear audio systems", you can fetch it somewhere
from http://echo.gaps.ssr.upm.es/COSTG6 iirc.
those guys are using a different approach; they seem to have
found a way to capture the nonlinearities of a system without
having to care how the system works at all. looks very cpu-
bound to me though.
