[ACK: I need to pimp my recent stuff more]

I think Eliot's after a hardware mixer abstraction, ie. something to
abstract away the hardware gain controls etc.

Remix is an application library for multitrack/multchannel pcm sequencing
in software; I don't think it's what Eliot's after.
