Every once in a while, I check our listing at

    http://linux-sound.org/notation.html

in the hope that you found the time to update the LilyPond entry with
musings on how it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Now I know that notation is not the most central and sexy thing in
Linux Sound, and maybe I'm not entirely unbiased, but I have the
feeling that the LilyPond entry is a bit off balance, when compared
with ABC, or MusiXTeX?

  # ABC
      * ABC is "...a language designed to notate tunes in an ascii
format" (This page is the main resource for abc-related
        packages)
      * ABC Plus Project many enhancements from Guido Gonzato, including
his abcpp (abc preprocessor) and JedABC (abc file editor)
      * Jef's ABC page Jean-François Moine's wonderful extension
software, includes abc2mps (abc files to Postscript) and tclabc
        (Tcl/Tk interface for abc files)
      * Skink nice front-end for abc, requires Java
      * abcMIDI renders abc score to MIDI file

  # LilyPond music typesetter, outputs TeX and MIDI

  # MusiXTeX full-featured music typesetting via TeX (This page is also
the main resource for other TeX-related notation packages)

That saddens me a bit, because your pages is still where a Linux user
would look for a notation program. I don't think a new user would
even consider looking at LilyPond, where IMNSH(but biassed)O, she
should.

Greetings,
Jan.
