Radial movement on control elements often confuses me.

If there was a line drawn from the center of the knob to the mouse pointer,
maybe sporting arrows in the directions to move the mouse would make two
things obvious for me:

- - to move the mouse radially
- - that there's different scaling available

The display of that "helper line" could be configurable and even defaulted not
to be used. Absolute values could also be displayed next to the mouse
pointer.

The scaling issue may be obvious for most people, but it wasn't for me until
this thread. I just hated radial knobs.
