I don't know. I don't recall anyone ever having reported this kind of
noise, certainly not within the last year or two of JACK's
history. You are talking about a system that is just running jackd, no
clients, correct? What audio h/w are we talking about?

it *is* intended to connect multiple audio applications together, but
the design goals weren't based on each of those applications being on
the scale of a buzz machine, or a LADSPA/DSSI plugin. the idea was
that applications would host the ".dll level plugins", and JACK would
"host" the applications. and it does so rather well, from what we
hear.
