That's because c/c++/etc are far superior for this task. It's really
not that hard to learn c/c++ if you've got a programming mindset and
it fits in the system a lot better. I'd recommend c myself as it's
less likely you'll program in a "java" style and you can then learn
good c style. Ask on list if you want pointers. Basically every lib
you want to use is in c or has c binding where as other languages have
less library support.
