There's six cores available now, btw.

For serious boards, there's really only Tyan and iWill. There's also
supermicro in that class, but I don't know them that well.

What are you talking about..!?!?. Of course, it's essential;).

I'd go for Tyan or iWill. Some of these boards also allow you to run
coreboot.
