It's perfectly fine for the 1712, and the audio sync probably has
nothing to do with midi jitter.

It's just that your 1712 has few inputs to bridge, although two pairs
is better than one... it is ultimately an AC97 codec which may or may
not give you the audio results you want., and may behave differently
at 44.1k than 48k as AC97 runs at 48k, and perhaps, resampling could
be involved running at other rates.
