when i did this with ardour (and a few other projects) back in the
early days, when guile was the interpreter of choice, any benefits it
brought to the table were negated by its intrusiveness into the
overall process structure. moreover, it ended up being overkill for
the purpose, and when it was removed and replaced with everybody's
bastard child (XML), nothing was lost ...

not sure that this applies to fons' planned use of python for this
purpose, or if python suffers from the same level of issues that guile
did.
