sorry i can't help you.
but just to show you that you are not alone with this problem, sb
live users would offer their kingdom for a commented routing matrix
of the emu10k1.
alas (funny this is an acronym of ALSA, isn't it ?), no such thing
exists.
for the time being, it's trial and error, upgrade and despair :)
you can find out something using the amixer program, because some
routes have names there. jaroslav once replied to one of my mails
with a little decsription of what the routes on an emu10k1 do.
search his mails on alsa-dev for "pdif,toslink,ac97,amixer", maybe
you find something.
