get any wave editor (like glame, audacity, snd, mxv, younameit),
zoom in on the waveform, listen, watch the cursor or simply count
the peaks (sometimes the drum beats will stand out clearly) and cut.
be sure not to crop too much of the sustain of the last beat, i.e.
cut right before the next note. to avoid clicks, make sure you cut
on a zero-crossing of the waveform.
if the material is very sustained or has a lot of reverb, you might
not be able to do an unperceivable cut. in this case, don't cut on
the first beat but somewhere in the middle of the bar where there's
more space. tends to be more subtle than a cut on the one, but
that's a matter of taste, mainly.
