I think you mean _difference tones_. A Google search yields more pages
than I can shake a tuning fork at, for example:

   A toy whistle emits tones at 2081, 1896, and 1727 Hz.
   Subjective difference tones at 169, 185, and 374 Hz are
   clearly audible.
