Also known as sum and difference tones.
When two frequencies are perceived simultaneously,
one may hear the difference of their individual
frequencies as well as (rarely) the sum.
This distortion, caused by the ear itself, is
particularly evident with sine or sine-like timbres
- thus easily demonstrated with two recorders, etc.
