I get the same size. But I also get the chipmunks again. So ecasound
must be doing something to the .wav before passing it to lame. I
tried all of:
lame -b 128 lingham.wav lingham-lame.mp3
lame -b 128 -x -S lingham.wav lingham-xS.mp3
cat lingham.wav | lame -b 128 -x -S - lingham-sxS.mp3
and I get:
-rw-rw-r-- 1 lconrad lconrad 2332800 Feb 1 20:59 lingham-lame.mp3
-rw-rw-r-- 1 lconrad lconrad 2322432 Feb 1 17:11 lingham.mp3
-rw-rw-r-- 1 lconrad lconrad 2332800 Feb 1 21:05 lingham-sxS.mp3
-rw-rw-r-- 1 lconrad lconrad 1163619 Feb 1 17:06 lingham.wav
-rw-rw-r-- 1 lconrad lconrad 2332800 Feb 1 21:00 lingham-xS.mp3
and only the one produced by ecasound sounds like the input.
