well, on mandrake 8.1 ive had to do an enourmous amount of hacking around due to mandrake putting header files in different place ( eg /usr/include/gtk-1.2 instead of /usr/include/gtk , same with gdk and glib ) ..... after symbolic links galore ( couldnt be bothereed to hack the sources ) it finally gets to the build and then pukes with the following error:
------------------------------
libtool: link: only absolute run-paths are allowed
make[1]: *** [libALSA.la] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/alsa-xmms-0.9/src'
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
------------------------------

can anyone suggest what i can do to solve this?

regards jordan.
