Just today my PSX->USB adapter arrived, yeah. I intend to use it with
PD. I already used a standard gameport gamepad (SAITEK X6 32M) with
PD, which was quite OK, but there are some strange PSX devices, that I
love to try.

The USB adapter, made by Smartjoy, does indeed work on Linux. The
joydev and the hid modules are needed. So far I tested it with a
non-analog PSX pad (without sticks), an analog pad and with the
standard beatmania controller. I'm a bit disapointed with the
beatmania keyboard, because the turntable scratchpad only provides 3
values:

* moved up
* moved down
* not moved at all.

This is sad, because this way scratching is in fact made impossible, damn.
Maybe I'll have to look for more advanced Beatmania controller, that
use the analog functions of the PSX. Anyone know some?

The non-analog pad works as expected, and the analog pad needed
calibration, but then the jitter almost went away. I used
jscalibrator for this, a small GNOME program. It did only show one axis
at a time, but calibrating each after another resulted in useable
values.

Next I want to buy a dance mat.

I can dance much better than playing the keyboard.

ciao
