For that purpose, I always recommend the M-Audio DiO 2448. It should be
selling for under $100USD. SPDIF I/O, optical and coax, and RCA analog outs.
Don't know if it can work under ALSA, but it was working great for me with
the standard OSS cmpci driver (with a couple of minor changes to the driver
code to enable the digital I/O).
