I just got 4.22.6 from what you suggested, after
editing the makefile, I got it to start to compile.
then I ran into

/usr/lib/ld: cannot find -ltcl

I can't figure out what package I need to provide the
correct tcl libraries. I'm running debian with tcl-8.4
and tcl-8.4-dev.

What am I missing here?
