Subject: [linux-audio-user] No such device using ALSA drivers

Hi,

I'm trying to use mplayer's ac3 passthrough option, with the ALSA drivers, but I get the following error:
alsa-init: requested format: 48000 Hz, 2 channels, AC3
alsa-init: soundcard set to iec958:AES0=0x2,AES1=0x82,AES2=0x0,AES3=0x2
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:866:(snd_pcm_hw_open) open /dev/snd/pcmC0D3p failed: No such device
alsa-init: playback open error: No such device

if I do an ll on the /dev/snd/pcmC0D3p the permissions, etc look fine:
 - ll /dev/snd/pcmC0D3p
 crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 116, 19 Dec 26 17:54 /dev/snd/pcmC0D3p

When I try to cat the file, it gives me the same error, though.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Regards,
Reinier.
