Have you checked out Java Audio? Or the Java Media package, it allows you
to process streams and do recording. Maybe gstreamer would work as well,
and I've also seen it done with pd, on the pd user's list this one guy has
a php app that controls pd that streams onto icecast, its got a slick
flash front end, so flash is sending signals to this php/pd app.
