ah! ok, sorry i assumed it was named differently on your system.

progess....but now i get:

  #pd -verbose -lib /usr/bin/k_vst~ -open davep.pd;

  tried /usr/bin/k_vst~.pd_linux and succeeded
  /usr/bin/k_vst~.pd_linux: /usr/bin/k_vst~.pd_linux: undefined symbol:
VSTLIB_new
  /usr/bin/k_vst~: can't load library
