I'd be more concerned with a situation like "some political
organization I have a big problem with decides to use my music
in their commercial, duly crediting me as per the license so
that my name is then associated with their organization".
I've recently heard from a number of indie labels, and what I'm
getting is "we don't care as much about piracy as we do about
getting our artists heard." I think you could apply that to
free music, and I think it could even be successful, but on the
other hand.... personally I don't want to turn on the radio
someday and hear "So join the orphaned puppy killers of america.
Once you kill an orphaned puppy you'll understand. Music
provided by Rob Kudla."
