If you are using jack then it would be jack outputting to alsa.... minor
nitpicking...

mmm, I don't think this is true. It's possible that BruteFIR's jack
implementation requires this (jack does not), but even if you have 6 inputs
defined you don't have to use them. This should be possible to arrange in
BruteFIR's configuration no?
