You are right (I have still one punch card here). Perhaps
it was rather a Fortran input limitation.(?) Independend
of this: The PMX input line must be shorter than 129 characters.
(or shorther than 128 ???)
BTW: If the TeX installation is regarded as drawback:
Don't misunderstand this: LilyPond is impressive! But
it requires a TeX installation, too ...
