I think maybe the app should have a run/stop process function. As long
as it's in run it will always try to silently connect. When jack
restarts after a failure, it accepts the connections. There should
also be a way in jack to refuse connections.

No, this is a post 1.0 jack issue, but it's definitely something
required.
