I'd also recommend to avoid such stuff which needs firmware loading.
Even if you're on the Windows side, go to a friend and for some reason
you haven't got the "driver" handy, buh.
Buy one which will work as an USB-MIDI-Device out of the box and plug it
in on any machine you like.
