Absolutely no offense taken, and certainly none intended. My use of the
phrases "I understand that" and "what we now know" was more pastoral or
professorial, and not helped by my disdain for emoticons. :-)

Actually, this area of program behavior is of interest and importance to
me, and my fondness for QJC and ease of testing what you report, along
with my being on vacation from school this week, all led me to stick
with this thread to a far greater extent than is my custom.

I just felt I could help you fully characterize this problem both to a
possible solution to your need and as a benefit to Rui in his development.
