Does MIDI work inter-process, like from Rosegarden to Hydrogen or AMS or
some other softsynth? If so, then I'd say your homemade interface may be
the culprit. I recommend getting a real MIDI interface -- an M-Audio
2496 card is only $99 most places and is at least semi-pro in terms of
its quality and I have had fantastic results with its MIDI interface.
