WRT "stuff you don't need" *all* distros support addition and removal of
packages.
ask your local sys-admin what he feels about supporting more than 1 flavor
of linux.
(its a lot of work to remember how to do conceptually the same thing on
all of the diff linuxes.(linuces whtever))
